Candles

I had an order from a friend to make her mum a blue and yellow candle so invited my mum round yesterday afternoon to make one too.  We had a lovely afternoon designing the images etc got all ready to melt them onto the candles and had a power cut lol.. we made cards until the electric came back on then finished our candles so ended up with more crafty makes than intended ha ha.

The green and blue candle I made using a lovely retired stamp set which has a lovely flower stem stamp included (simply said stamp set) I stamped this in olive green ink then used a small flower stamp from (for everything stamp set) and stamped over small green flowers with pacific point ink to enhance the smaller flowers.  I stamped the flower in daffodil delight ink (simply said stamp set) and stamped over (using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the images) the outline flower in pacific point ink (simply said stamp set).

The lovely tags were created by simply punching 3 colours of card with blossom punch and attaching together with lovely ribbon to make the tag by punching hole in green flower - cut a slit in each of the other flowers to the centre - on the one you want in the middle stick so that 1 petal overlays another to form a flower - on front one overlay 2 petals over 2 others and stick to make the front flower. snip holes at bottom of flower for ribbon to go through.

Tie a piece of ribbon in the middle to form a knot (this becomes flower stamen) then simply thread the ribbon through all petals and tie at the back then attach to cello bag that candle has been placed into.

It does take some time but is a beautiful gift idea.

(I have to give credit to one of my lovely SU demonstrator friend's Linda Dodsworth for showing us how to make the tag in one of her card making classes... thanks Linda)

Mum's candle (red one) was made using real red ink stamped with a flower also from the simply said stamp set and using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the stamps she stamped her friend's name using Just Perfect Alphabet stamp set.
